Re: 2021 Season

https://www.milb.com/news/yard-goats-announce-soft-opening-for-the-2021-season-at-dunkin-donuts-park Great idea. Now that the State is opening up, a chance to see a game live in a fabulous ballpark. Always nice to have CCSU play at this venue yet again. However, this will be a challenging weekend f...

Re: Wallace enters the portal

If I was the new coach, I would want a clean slate to be honest. The issues with the previous regime go beyond W's and L's. I'd worry I was getting a bunch of players who are not used to being held accountable and disciplined. Ola and Newkirk are guys any coach will want around. No, neither should ...

Re: Wallace enters the portal

CCSU MBB is worse off than when this most recent rebuilding process started 5 years ago. The new HC needs to be selected asap, so he can get started with the monumental task of rebuilding this program from the ground up. Absolutely. The program is in worse condition than its was 5 years ago, as har...

Re: UHart out of the AE????

Could it be abandon ship time? Just saw on fox61 that the UHart women's coach resigned to go be with the evil empire... 🤔 Morgan Valley joins UConn about a week after longtime assistant coach Shea Ralph was named the Vanderbilt Commodores new head women’s basketball coach. We can only hope 😁 Seriou...

Wallace enters the portal

At this point we are less than a week from announcing a new head coach. Again, I don't blame the kids for looking, but the new coach has a lot of work to salvage a returning roster.

Re: Coaching Carousel 2021

The Binghamton selection of an interim head coach makes a lot more sense now - the AD just "stepped down" to spend more time with his family. You now have 2 athletics programs in America East in worse shape than CCSU - Binghamton and Hartford. 👍 Once we hire a new HC and get Tom as AD, we are in a g...

Re: Time to Start Naming Names...

Again, these are some great discussions. No harm with disagreement or different perspective. But let's be clear, we are all speculating and don't know how these candidates are presenting themselves to the panel. Since the panel and Tom P. has more information and the ability to ask questions, they a...

Re: Time to Start Naming Names...

Sorrentine and Kingsley don't come from scholarship programs. How much consideration should that receive, if any? IMO it isn't a deal breaker, but it is a challenge coming from the Ivy's to CCSU and the NEC. It has more to do with the academics qualifications of the recruits, not the mechanics of s...

Re: Time to Start Naming Names...

I don't think anyone is suggesting we should select Sellers only BECAUSE he played and coached here - he has the be the "best fit" for the job, period. Personally, I think his experience here as a player and a coach makes him very well positioned to be a successful coach here. We have discussed this...

Re: Time to Start Naming Names...

I think everyone is right. This is a very difficult choice. Of all the finalists, T.J. seems to be the outlier, although even he is a well respected assistant. Look back at last time, if Paul had his way we would if had Jay Young here. I think that would have worked out a lot better than DM, but pro...

Re: Time to Start Naming Names...

IMO - the appeal of Pat is simple - he's a highly qualified "Central guy" just like Detrick and Dickenman before him. These guys bleed blue and Central Connecticut is special place to them and us as fans. It translates to winning basketball, stability, and a sense of comfortability. It is like a war...

Re: Time to Start Naming Names...

I've never been a huge fan of Jeff Jacobs, but I think he gets the important facts straight, sets the context and has a good and fair take on the situation. With Central there always seem to be a lot of cooks involved. Too many non-athletic people can mean a lot of folks giving different weight to d...

Re: Time to Start Naming Names...

It's kind of amazing that Jeff Goodman did his "Top MBB Assistant Coaches" this past July and in our final 5 we have the #2 rated AC in the Big East, #1 in the A-10, and #1 in the Ivy, plus Sellers (easily our most qualified alum), and Kelvin Jefferson. https://watchstadium.com/stadium-ranks-the-to...
