Re: Time to Start Naming Names...

I promise I'm not trying to be coy or a PITA, just protecting a source while dropping a nugget to chew on. JJ- I'm really hoping that Donnelly is a finalist, and I agree that Kingsley is an intriguing option. However, both are on the Big Board, and are not the names I was referring to (that does no...

Makes sense. HC experience at D-II level and spent a long time as an assistant at Quinnipiac and Albany.

Certainly qualified, but doesn't make me excited at all, but that may be my QU bias.

Outside of the 2 names we know - I like Kingsley and Donnelly as longshots.

Re: Time to Start Naming Names...

My guess is that Matt Kingsley is one of them. (Edit: I see he is on the Big Board, but I still like him anyway!) https://yalebulldogs.com/sports/mens-basketball/roster/coaches/matt-kingsley/1007 I think he's a very strong candidate. Like Curran and Sellers he's an assistant, not a current HC, but t...

Re: Time to Start Naming Names...

I continue to believe that Curran would kill it here, and Sellers would be solid. I also continue to believe that the administration will be more comfortable with the "intangibles" Sellers brings, which is why he will ultimately get the job. But Curran will get a HC gig in the next few years, and w...

Via HoopDirt: https://hoopdirt.com/daily-dirt-4-16-21/ "I have heard that first round interviews at Central Connecticut will wrap up this week with a group of 4-6 coaches. This one will be entering it’s sixth week – one of the longest searches to date this off-season. Will have a better idea of who...

Re: Softball

Women's soccer is a legit powerhouse in the region. Would love to see them continue that success in the NCAAs. Softball has definitely been on the rise. The coach has the ladies performing at a high level. Maybe they can make some more post season noise. With Men's soccer back on track this year, al...

Re: Outlaw enters transfer portal

Yeah, not good news, but all this was expected. I'm waiting to make a judgment on particular players staying/going until the end of the month. DM's contract expires at midnight tonight - so we are officially on the clock. I am hopeful that they can make a decision, approve a contract, and hold a pre...

Re: Coaching Carousel 2021

I also agree about "building the brand." This program has a lot of history and at one point was a pretty big deal at its level (small college/mid-major) built by Kaiser, Moore, Detrick, and Dickenman. This is a university first and foremost, so I understand why academics and recruiting kids of chara...

Re: Coaching Carousel 2021

Yes, I certainly wish we had less bureaucratic, budgetary, and political hurdles. State and union rules make this a much longer process than at almost any other D-I program in the country - and that sucks! This shouldn't be a 2 month process, but if you look at what UMBC did, I think they moved a li...

Re: Coaching Carousel 2021

So why are we the last? Meanwhile these new HC's are a step ahead in the recruiting process. Not enough time for any of them to make a difference. All these teams had defections and few if any new signings so far. We are still deep in the offseason and in a dead recruiting period. CCSU is in a grea...

Re: Coaching Carousel 2021

So much for rumors - King Rice is staying at Monmouth. Here's an update on the few mid-major hires in the region: Albany (America East) - Dwayne Killings , Marquette assistant Binghamton (America East) - Levell Sanders (interim for 2021-22), Binghamton assistant Central Connecticut (Northeast) - OPE...

Re: Coaching Carousel 2021

Rumor has it that King Rice will step down from the Monmouth job to become Associate HC at North Carolina. That would open up an attractive mid major head coach position ob in the MAAC to complete with the UMBC opening. I would imagine that many if the guys that applied for the CCSU job will also ap...

Re: Univ. of New Haven to NEC?

Curious, why is this a bad idea? Gives us access to closer away games, Bryant is definitely looking to pull out I’d imagine and at least it’s a school in the Northeast. Let’s face it, we’re here to stay. AE ain’t knocking on our door. The America East is a perfect fit for CCSU in terms of peers and...
