Fairfield U coaching staff

Post by J.J. »

Well, if true, Paul has really done something down in Fairfield - probably what he wanted to do at Central.

The Stags are led by the CCSU's selection committee's choice to replace Howie Dickenman - Jay Young.

And it appears, the the top 2 assistants at Fairfield will have deep CCSU roots - Patrick Sellers and Chris Casey.

Chris Casey is a WestConn grad who got his start in coaching as an assistant at CCSU back in 1986. He returned to New Britain in 2001 under Howie and was part of our 2002 NCAA team. He was an assistant at St. John's and went on to be a head coach at D-II LIU-Post and most recently at Niagara.

Patrick Sellers is a CCSU alum and was the 1991 ECC Defensive POY while playing for the Blue Devils. Older brother of UConn star Rod Sellers, Patrick was part of Howie's first coaching staff at Central and made 2 NCAA appearances in 2000 and 2002. Patrick went on to be an assistant at UMass, UConn, Hofstra, DePaul, Creighton, and most recently FDU. He was a finalist for the CCSU head coaching position after Howie's retirement.

Basically, Fairfield University may have has 2 coaches on staff (Young and Sellers) who were interviewed as finalist for the head coaching position at Central Connecticut and 2 former CCSU assistant (Sellers and Casey).

Maybe we should start referring to them as the Fairfield BLUE Stags next years

While Pat is an awesome guy and I wish him nothing but the best always, I can't help but be aggravated how badly CCSU has screwed up after Howie. Freakin guy who did it isn't even around any more to be held accountable which makes it worse. Maybe we can get Pat back if the DM experiment goes south..more south...

It is difficult to imagine anything going farther south without invoking the name Roald Amundsen.

Amundsen also went to the N pole, where he discovered that when you are at the N pole the only direction you can go is South.

CCSU-Fairfield Campus has raised its record to 4-7, having won three out of their last 4. In addition to the above mentioned victory over Texas A & M at Orlando, the Stags have recent road wins at Oakland Univ and Wagner to go with a narrow home loss to 8-5 Bill & Mary.
