CCSU Spring Football 2012

I figured its about that time of the year....lets start talking spring football. With that said;

Offense:
QB -- ?? Clements?? J Jones??
RB -- Tolbert, Kent St transfer, Pagan
WR -- Baker, D Jones, Bacarella, Garcarz? or Niggebruge? (both saw limited action last year)
OL -- Only lost one from last year
TE -- Jubles (the pride of Stamford)

Defense:
DL -- major competition battles
LB -- L. Baker, Arnold (Coach Mac recently tweeted that he may move to RB??? He was Freshmen Def POY in the conf)
DB -- Linares, Cirnna ( NB Hometown Boys), the freshmen who started at safety from Bristol.

Your thoughts? Anyone going to the spring practices?

This is what I like about the football off season. Unllike basketball you don't need to wait until next year to get a gauge on the team. Unfortunately that's the nature of the sport until the NCAA allows for a two or three week summer basketball camp.

You guys are gonna be extremely happy with the Kent State RB transfer, Rob Holloman... Don't be surprised if you see him start from day one... He reminds me of the Terry Caulley from UCONN, diminutive ( at 5'8 170lbs ), a little less power, but extremely elusive (cuts on a dime), and will LEAVE a defender in the dust... I remember him being recruited by UCONN back in his HS days. He ended up taking a prep year then ultimately at Kent State and now he's here... He's a baller... He's gonna help you guys get over the hump and be in that upper echelon of FCS football...
Ur also gonna be very happy with his lil bro Brandon Holloman, who comes in as a DB... but he can easily end up at RB too... and definitely KR/PR...

Ive heard the same, "Rob is legit D1". The has serious speed. Anyone following Coach Mac on twitter...he is building up the QB competition. I hear Clements cant hit the ocean w a pass, but hes a leader and can run. Very interesting stuff going into the spring.

In the WTF Department, I went biking today and biked by Arute where there was some activity going on. Something called the "New England 5 QB" camp. I'll "Google" it later. So...I stopped in and...predominately displayed at the reception table entering Arute were two shiney, glossy, polished EE football helmets welcoming all who attended.

I know...sometimes I moan...and who doesn't here, but is something wrong with this picture???

I think that is Jack Cocrahn's camp for high school players. His is very controversial high school football coach, formerly at New Brian and New London. His son, Casey, is the top in-state recruit at UConn.

He just rents the facility from CCSU - the event is not affiliated with Central in any way.

Straub's article on the Spring game:

NEW BRITAIN - Central Connecticut football coach Jeff McInerney doesn’t want to name a starting quarterback until at least the start of training camp, after he sees how his team handles itself this summer.

Andrew Clements all but made the announcement for him Friday.

The junior, who is starting his first full season at quarterback for the Blue Devils, ran for two scores and threw for another to lead the blue team, made up of Central’s projected starters, to a 41-21 win over the white squad at Central’s annual spring game.

Clements was 17-of-26 for 220 yards and a touchdown on the day in the air and showed he could run Central’s typical ground-and-pound game, running 13 times for 72 yards on his way to MVP honors.
