Re: It's official: Hartford to D-III

Oh Yeah JJ...I remember those days well. There were grumbling’s of D-1 way back then and CCSU scheduled a few D-1 teams including Army and losing by just 1 pt. in OT. As a student (late 60's/early70's) I remember seeing D1 Boston University and Vermont at Kaiser Hall. The game with BU was closely c...

Re: It's official: Hartford to D-III

UH is hard to get to, park, and to depart. Yes it is very nice NEC/AE level arena. But the parking for the Chase Arena is markedly inferior to Central's lots and garages. Basically the parking for the Chase Arena is the equivalent of Central's Football parking lot, never mind the humongous Copernic...

Re: New Regents Leader

What do you think about having a UConn employee as the BOR leader?!
Obviously, it means that this person is going to be making decisions that are in the interest of UConn not the State Universities. The optics are bad.

Re: It's official: Hartford to D-III

I would love to see CCSU, the NEC, and America East come to an agreement that would allow Central to join America East and keep football in the NEC as an associate member. With the University of New Haven announcing their intentions to join D-I, the NEC has another school ready to backfill if CCSU ...

I don't think that it is a good move for the UofH.

Re: Big Board!

I heard a rumor that the job was offered to someone else, and that someone else turned it down. That would explain a lot. Perhaps there were negotiations with candidate A and they could not come to an agreement. I don't think there is anything unusual in that, I am sure that type of negotiation goe...

Re: Big Board!

Finally! Sellers should have got the job in 2016. So why did this take so long? Reminds me of the time I was behind a guy at an ice cream stand. They had a board that had at least 25 flavors and the guy was just staring at the board obviously trying to decide on a flavor, finally after an eternity t...

Re: Big Board!

Why Toro overrode the committee's choice--again just speculating here--is beyond me. Would it be because of Pat's issue at UConn?--which we know he was just the fall guy for. I hope not, but there is no doubt in my mind that is why Pat has gone over 20 years without an HC job. I don't know how much...

Re: Big Board!

I can draw some conclusions: 1. Its not going to be Sellers, if it was it would have been done already. 2. The process is FUBAR'ed 3. If they do end up signing Sellers than that only proves #2, because why would it take so long to make an obvious choice? 4. it has nothing to do with a D1 or D3 appro...

Re: Women's team departure- 2021

Delano was a 1000 pt scorer and genuine star in HS.
At Central she showed some flashes of brilliance but her overall performance seemed to fall short of her potential. Perhaps she has not fully recovered from a serious ankle injury.
Best of luck in Tampa!

Murray, of course, is the son of actor Bill Murray.
Is that why this whole thing seems like Ground Hog Day?

Re: Big Board!

](*,) I am alarmed at the molasses pace of the bureaucracy.
If they do pick Sellers....then why did it take so long? Capt Obvious would be proud.

So, it seems to me that since this is taking so long, then it is probably not going to be Pat Sellers

Re: Wallace enters the portal

Who is even left at this point? Ola and Ian? According to VC, Newkirk is still on the roster. Ayangma has another year of eligibility, but everything seems to indicate that he is gone. It would be nice if he would stay. If they had Ian, Newkirk, Ola, and Ayangma that would be a lot of available 'ex...

Re: Time to Start Naming Names...

I'm not sure if you read the article or just the excerpts J.J. posted, but Jacobs was NOT suggesting they should hire Sellers, but rather they should be open-minded and get it right. Sellers MIGHT be the right guy for the job, but if these final interviews are simply a formality then that's a real ...

Re: Time to Start Naming Names...

I agree with Jacobs. I have no faith in bureaucracy. Sellers is ready. He was a finalist last time, he was a former student athlete here, he was a former Assistant Coach here. He has been an assistant all over the D1 map, and he always has a job, that is because he has a great reputation among D1 he...
