Re: Recruiting under Sellers off to a good start...

Sellers got a commitment from Abdul Momoh, a 6'7" big from The Patrick School in NJ. https://twitter.com/SJHoopsEliteAAU/status/1420428953882435588?s=20 I can't find much on him. I watched a video from last September and he appears to be quite athletic for his size. Looks like he could be a rim runn...

Re: Recruiting under Sellers off to a good start...

Verbal Commits has Arian Dehnavi listed as an "ERS", which is an "expected red shirt for the current season." Does that mean he will be red shirted by Central, or, that he was red shirted for the 20-21 season? I do not know the answer to that question, but my assumption is the reference to red-shir...

Re: Recruiting under Sellers off to a good start...

There's been a lot of talk regarding bigs, and this morning I saw this tweet from recruiting analyst Adam Finkelstein regarding prospect Dereck Lively. "Dereck Lively is the epitome of a modern day big - mobile & bouncy 7-footer with a high-motor who protects the rim, runs the floor, can defend PnR,...

Re: Recruiting under Sellers off to a good start...

But what if you're a big with a dominant inside game? Well, then you're probably getting Big East offers..or at least A10, etc. So why don't we find 6'10" guys who are athletic enough to guard the paint AND perimeter and pop out to hit the 3? Well, like hoops said, those guys don't end up in the NE...

Bigs are super important.

It's just that the HOW has changed quite a bit over the past two decades.

Re: Recruiting under Sellers off to a good start...

I’m obviously no expert on the game but IMHO a 6’ 10” guy who can fill the middle is something we need even if he needs to work on his shot. Back in 1999, we had a 6’ 10” center named Jeremy Bergh who gave Corsely a breather when needed and although he wasn’t the best shooter, he gave some very val...

Re: Recruiting under Sellers off to a good start...

I'm fine with the recruiting strategy so far. IMO the recruiting strategy has been borderline perfect. Does that mean all, or most, of this year's freshmen will become good players? No. Could a few of them leave after their first season? Sure. But what he's done is bring in shooters and length (or ...

Re: Recruiting under Sellers off to a good start...

Latest guy to sign…Arian Dehnavi 6’10” from Montreal. Follow him on Twitter at @Dehnaviarian Highlights: https://www.hudl.com/video/3/10138878/5c8d8feadfe3141144214b58 This video is 2.5 years old, so I'd imagine (hope) that there's been quite a bit of development since then. With that said, I see a...

Re: Recruiting under Sellers off to a good start...

any chance Aidan Kehoe gets reclassified as '21 if a real possibility for a commit now? I'd think 2022 preps would rather bet on themselves and see if they can become mid/high major prospects than reclassify and go to an NEC school. Sellers offered three 2022 prospects yesterday, including two from...

Re: Recruiting under Sellers off to a good start...

Sounds like the walk ons can play which is a plus. Correct. Both Ostrowsky and Ellison were ranked in the top 60 in CT by New England Recruiting Report. Clearly behind D1 scholarship players, but both could have been rotation players at D2 schools. Ellison was committed to Barton CC, which is one o...

It's a very good thing that Sellers is bringing in walk-ons. Creating competition in practice. Love it.

Re: 2021-22 Non-Conference Schedule

CCSU is playing NC State on 11/16 at Mohegan Sun, UMass-Lowell on 11/17. A nice opportunity to play a high-major at a quasi-home game. We need to get as many students/alumni there as possible. A nice test to see if Patrick Sellers and Tom Pincince can lead a campaign to get students interested/invol...

Re: Monetizing Name, Image, Likeness

Agreed, Skyhawk. Let's see what all the "creative marketers" out there will do with this. If anyone sees/reads any article out there, that gives insight into what athletes are doing and what schools like Central are doing with this, let's see them. On Page 1 of this thread there are a bunch of exam...

Re: Monetizing Name, Image, Likeness

This whole Master P thing got me thinking. In the past, there have been head coaches who secured a commitment from a top tier recruit by bringing in the kids dad/brother/coach as an assistant. I wonder if the next frontier may be offering a scholarship to a kid who maybe talent-wise isn't quite D1, ...
