Re: Time to Start Naming Names...

Well the analytic lovers will be over the moon now. By far the best article written on the subject. Very informative… Yup. I already love Pat Sellers! And his citing Greg McDermott from Creighton gives you some more insight in how he might take on this job. Sellers has worked with a lot of guys ove...

Re: Now let's talk about the team lineup.

I think the general sense was DM was too much of a "players coach" and the team wasn't very disciplined on or off the court. Of course, he had some really great, hard working kids over his 5 years (and a few we probably could have done without). But even with talent, they were lost and couldn't win ...

Re: Welcome home Pat Sellers!

https://centralrecorder.org/77267/sports/patrick-sellers-officially-named-next-basketball-coach/ Ryan Jones knocked it out of the f'in park. Also; analytics!!! First, excellent reporting. Jones does a great job of talking to people, getting the quotes. He paints a good picture with his articles and...

Re: Now let's talk about the team lineup.

I agree with everyone here. There might be a few guys Pat will be able to get to stay - but a few aren't coming back under any circumstances. We had too many players missing games last year for a range of issues, so starting with just 3-4 returning players is not a bad thing. Pat has been around and...

Re: Welcome home Pat Sellers!

And the genuine complements he is getting as a person on Twitter is another sign this selection was bigger than basketball - it was about rebuilding a culture. Everyone mentions his work ethic and honest personality first. That's not to say there won't be pressure here to win (and do it quickly), bu...

Welcome home Pat Sellers!

It is now official and I am ready and very excited to support him and the team moving forward. I think this quote from Tom P. tells me everything I need to know this was the right guy for us: "His leadership qualities, vision and passion were evident throughout the interview process. He knows what i...

Re: It's official: Hartford to D-III

Sky and NB, Right on!!! =D> I don't think we should gloat, but I certainly think the entire university must take STRATEGIC ADVANTAGE of this situation. In athletics this means looking at their rosters for possible transfers, see what sponsors we could steal, etc. I look at this like a big yard sale ...

Re: It's official: Hartford to D-III

I also think this is the perfect opportunity for CCSU to fundraise and see if the can reinstate both Men's and Women's golf. Hartford did have a pretty strong men's golf program and put a few alumni on tour. It was tragic that CCSU had to drop these teams despite the relative success we had in both ...

Re: It's official: Hartford to D-III

I would love to see CCSU, the NEC, and America East come to an agreement that would allow Central to join America East and keep football in the NEC as an associate member. With the University of New Haven announcing their intentions to join D-I, the NEC has another school ready to backfill if CCSU w...

How soon can we steal their hashtag :)

#CapitalCityTeam

Also, maybe Sellers can see if there are any returning players for the Hawks that want to take their talents to New Britain.

Re: It's official: Hartford to D-III

I don't think that it is a good move for the UofH. Who knows, but their problems are a lot more serious than athletics. If they don't do something dramatic to address declining enrollment and increasing expenses, they won't be a university for much longer. Clearly, some "peers" like Quinnipiac, Sac...

Re: It's official: Hartford to D-III

Unreal! Now, how might this impact CCSU? Will the America East look to recruit CCSU? We seem to be a perfect fit other than we would need to find a home for football? Would joining the AE, in the long run, would be more cost beneficial, in terms of transportation costs? Way too early to think about...

Re: Big Board!

I think a few posters alluded to the delay in an official announcement. Because of what happened last time, this current regime is doing everything by the books (a very good thing). I think they are just finalizing the required state and university hiring process - but we have our coach - Pat Seller...
