Southeastern Louisiana

Post by slulionsfan »

Hello CCSU fans, found your message board and wanted drop in to say hello. We're looking forward to our trip to CCSU in September, and your return trip to Hammond, La. in 2022. We enjoy playing FCS opponents outside of our region and should be a good early test for both programs.

Welcome slulionsfan!

Very much looking forward to hosting the nationally-ranked Southeastern Louisiana in 2021 and the return trip to Hammond in 2022.

Been very quiet here regarding football since we sat out the Spring season and didn't get much news from camp. We should be getting more updates as preseason begins. With some solid QB play, we expect to be competing for a playoff spot.

This will be the farthest any football team has traveled to play at Central Connecticut and this is the first football team CCSU has ever hosted from outside of the Eastern Time Zone.

Prior to transitioning to I-A football in 2000, UConn has only hosted two teams from outside of our time zone - Nicholls State (La.) and Troy State (Ala.) both in 1994.

I will be booking a flight to see that game. What airport do you recommend?

Thanks for sharing, slulionsfan! We hope you enjoy your trip to Connecticut. Hopefully we can give you a nice dry, 70-degree, New England afternoon--perfect football weather!

If you're referring to the return trip in 2022, New Orleans would be best though Baton Rouge is fine as well, depending on where you're coming from.

We would love a 70 degree NE afternoon, though we'll gladly take 85 that time of year. We're still boiling in September in these parts.

Should be fun. The only programs we've played from the northeast are New Hampshire in a last minute 20-17 loss in the FCS quarterfinals in 2013, and Villanova, a 45-44 shootout win in the first round of the playoffs win in 2019 — both were at home. This will be our first road trip to that part of the country.
